Adolescents:
Dr. Bailley has a special interest in providing grief counseling to adolescents who have lost a loved one (e.g., parent, sibling, friend). The treatment of grief and complicated mourning in adolescents can facilitate improved adjustment and decreased emotional upset. In a therapeutic setting, younger bereaved individuals can learn ways to deal with their emotional reactions to loss so as to promote healing, and ultimately, personal growth.
Adults:
Dr. Bailley works with adults who are facing a variety of challenging life situations. In psychotherapy and grief counseling he works with people who are interested in finding adaptive solutions to the challenges they face. He believes that an accurate understanding of the scope and causes of problems are a necessary condition for achieving positive changes that will endure over time. Many of his clients are people who are interested in changing problematic habits to enrich their lives. Dr. Bailley seeks to empower his clients to change in directions that they believe would be beneficial for them, supporting them through the difficult process of changing established patterns.
Older Adults:
Dr. Bailley also specializes in treatment of problems faced by older individuals, such as depression, life/role transition challenges, memory changes (memory loss/dementia), coping with illness, changes in independence, and death and dying issues. Dr. Bailley has extensive experience in counseling older adults. Research indicates that reduced emotional ad behavioral symptoms and improved quality of life can be achieved through counseling for older adults. Dr. Bailley also counsels family members in coping as adaptively as possible with issues they may have that relate to aging parents.
